Pink Floyd “The Dark Side of the Moon” (Experience Edition)

Since its original release in March of 1973 “Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon” has become one of the most celebrated iconic albums of all time resonating with a soft a vengeance throughout its forty plus years of its musical shroud. Not only was it an enormous change for the band itself having been a highly experimental sound barrier of syncopated pandemonium but having attained their true revelation of shooting for the moon with an unlikely unintentional commercially devastating chart hoarding album. It has not left the charts for all its time after having been unleashed upon the world. And now with the ”Experience Edition” it is reborn unto us not only with its original recording remastered and sounding phenomenal but with a never before released version of “The Dark Side of the Moon” live at the Empire Pool, Wembley, London, circa 1974. This may as well be a new album for all of its many evolving factors of its original prototypes. Naturally we recognize the songs and their lyrics, however, the instrumental breaks unlatch an instrumental freedom that Pink Floyd has made all their own over the many years of their sojourn. The hauntingly melodic “Great Gig in the Sky” offers an extended vocal succession guiding us though this journey. The guitar work of “David Gilmour” varies from its former structure creating an innovative process and fresh new leads along with “Richard Wright’s” liquid keyboards following in collective agreement. This double disc set retreats back to its fundamental beginnings and soars on the wings of eagles with an unchained live version showing us that an idea can always continue to expand when the right components are involved.
